Will Davison and Garth Tander Win the 2009 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000

2009 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 Winners

1st: Will Davison and Garth Tander, Toll HRT
2nd: Jason Richards and Cameron McConville, BJR
3rd: Lee Holdsworth and Micahel Caruso, Garry Rogers Motorsport

Toll HRT's Garth Tander and Will Davison overcome their rivals to take Holden's first Bathurst win since 2005 in turn claiming the Peter Brock Trophy for the first time. Starting from pole in damp conditions, after Tander had been fastest in the Top 10 Shootout, Davison moved to the front in the early running and the duo virtually stayed there all day. It was a magic day for Holden, with 9 of the top 10 finishers being Commodores and a season-best performance from Team BOC with Jason Richards and Cameron McConville in second place. Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup finished fifth in their bid to win a fourth successive Bathurst crown, while Greg Murphy and Mark Skaife starred for Sprint Gas Racing. They finished fourth but saw a potential win go begging with the timing of a late race Safety Car period working against them.
